Super Baby

Here is an update on Celeste's bladder infection. (By the way she is doing great!) I took Celeste into the pediatrition for a fever and runny nose last week. She had also thrown up a few times. Dr. Edwards wanted a blood test and found her white blood cell count was really high. So he had more blood taken and a urinalysis. That's when he found the bladder infection. Celeste is such a strong baby! He said that most babies that get this infection end up in the hospital. He gave her a shot of powerful antibiotics and by the next day Celeste's fever was gone and she was laughing and playing.

Dr. Edwards wants to test her for urinary reflux. It's a common problem in babies, more common in girls. They usually outgrow it in a year, but may need to be on antibiotics for a while. So on Monday, April 13, she will have an ultrasound and a VCUG (voiding cysto-urethrogram) test done. If she has that it will show up with the test.

Last night she figured out how to roll from her tummy to her back. She rolled all the way across her blanket several times.

Celeste’s 5 Month Profile

Accomplishments:
Rolls onto her tummy from her back via her left side
Blows raspberries
Survived bladder infection without hospitalization

When she’s tired and the binky is missing

Favorite Toys:
Her rubber bath toy fish. They are named Su & Shi
Anything that fits in her mouth
Any toy the lights up and makes noise

Celeste weighs 16 lbs, 9 oz!

The Big Five

Celeste got to see 7 baby black bear cubs. They were so cute. One of them rolled on its back and got stuck. This reminded me of Celeste, who can roll onto her tummy, but gets stuck there and needs help rolling back.

Celeste is recovering from a cold she's had. We felt so sorry for her that we gave her her Easter toy early. She also got to try juice for the first time (white grape). She loooooved it! She said, "Mommy, give me more of that stuff!"
