Family Reunion - Part1 Getting There

We drove down to Santaquin, UT for the family reunion. Celeste timed her nap just perfectly and woke up when we got to Salt Lake. Curious George's hand is almost as good as a pacifier.

We stopped at the "This is the Place" monument, where Celeste had some dinner.

Something Smells Fishy

What do Celeste's parents do when she is asleep? They make fish pinatas! Well, they made one. We made it for Scott's family reunion. We used 7 of those long, skinny balloons that are used to make animals. By the way, Scott can make a great poodle out of those balloons.

Celeste Needs A Toothbrush

Yesterday Scott saw Celeste chewing and checked her mouth to see if she had eaten something off of the floor. She hadn't, but he found two little bottom teeth. We think they popped through this past weekend. They are hard to see, but you can feel them. Now she gets to have her teeth brushed with an infant tooth brush.

Infection Conquered!

Celeste is amazing! She is such a trooper and a speedy healer. She spent a few days at EIRMC getting antibiotics and fluids to flush out an infection in her bladder/kidneys. She was on the pedriatric floor where my friend's husband works. The nurses were very nice, and we are more and more impressed with Celeste's doctor. Grammy Carolyn was a life saver with the food, toys, reading materials, etc. that she brought, and for her visits and coming up with good questions for the doctor. Thank you, Heather, for making phone calls for us, and for coming to see us! Thank you everybody that prayed for or thought about us!

Celeste worked very hard at pulling off the oxygen sensor that was taped to her toe, and was successful. At the end of her stay, the nurse removed the IV and the splint that was keeping it there. For quite a while Celeste just stared at her newly freed arm. She'd rotate her hand back and forth, and watch it. She is doing very well and is back to her perky, happy self again. She 'crawled' in a circle on the floor tonight. We had cake and ice cream to celebrate her getting out of the hospital. She seems very happy to be home. It's going to be sooo good to sleep in my own bed too.

This Idaho Falls hospital stay was a good test run for going down to Primary Children's Hospital. We learned that disposable bottles and clothes that will allow an IV will be essential. We also found that soft music/singing, and her bunny from Grandma Jan were her biggest comforts. The cool rainbow light toy I was using to distract her during medical tests, is no longer useful, because she associates it with discomfort.

We should know pretty soon when the appointment with Primary Children's Hospital will be. In the mean time she get's to stay on anti-biotics.

Radiology Appointment (updated)

We took Celeste to see the Radiologist at EIRMC. She was sooooo good the whole time. She held still and was relatively happy. They used a catheter to put dye in her bladder and watched on an X-Ray machine where the dye went when she used the rest room. It was amazing to see all of her little organs working. She does have reflux. It is so good to know exactly what is going on. Thanks everyone that prayed and fasted!

She has level 5 Vesicoureteral Reflux, so we'll be heading down to see a specialist in Salt Lake City, UT at Primary Children's Hospital. (This is not the acid reflux where babies spit up a lot.)

Happy Easter!

In Russia, the common religious Easter greeting is for one person to say "Христос воскрес!" (Christ has risen!), followed by a reply from another person with "Воистину воскрес!" (Truly he has risen!)

Celeste and Bethany went to Utah to fisit family. We stayed with Colin, Katrina, & Jackson, and Mandy. The big activity was taking pictures of the babies. Here are some pictures from our adventure.
