Christmas Eve

I have never seen such an excited little kid. Celeste had a ton of fun opening presents. We had a wonderful evening and here is a link to mom's already updated blog:

All I want for Christmas is...

A cell phone of my own. And not just an old one without batteries that my mommy gave me. It would be nice if it had internet capabilities and played music and movies. Thank you, Santa. Sincerely, Celeste Marie

On Wednesday morning Scott made me a 2 layer chocolate cake with strawberries and toffee pieces for my birthday. He is amazing! Then we drove back to Primary Children's to get Celeste's stent removed. She is sleeping so much better at night now that she doesn't have a tube coming out of her tummy. It was draining urine from her kidneys so that the ureters could heal. Her only complaint about the tube removal was that mommy was holding her arms down. It was amazing that she wasn't scared on this return visit to that hospital. Maybe the pain medications helped to fuzzy her memory. She was just excited to play with all the toys they have in the waiting rooms. Afterwards we ate at a Brazillian restaurant. Legal! We stopped in Logan and had pizza, cake, and icecream with my twin. Autumn is a doll. Celeste's favorite words this week are "Bah" and "Uh oh".

Home again, home again, jiggity jig...

Celeste in her hospital gown pointing at sea lions in a mural.  She waited very patiently for over 3 hours for her surgery.  It was bumped back that far because doctors and nurses had difficulty getting to the hospital in the snow storm.  We drove down the night before, so we had no problems.

Here's some of the snow we saw while driving up the hill to Primary Childrens hospital on the University of Utah campus.

There were a lot of toys to keep her occupied.  This is Celeste in a wagon BEFORE the pre-surgery happy juice kicked in.

About 1/2 an hour later she was in surgery which lasted just over 2 hours, during which time we sat in the waiting room eating comfort food.  Celeste came through the surgery with flying colors.  Dr. Cartright did an amazing job.  Complications were my biggest fear, and she didn't have any.  She did great with the anesthesia, etc.  Celeste's room was on the 3rd floor.  She had very nice, smart nurses.  We were impressed by the hospital.  They specialize  in children and they were really good.

Here she is the next morning.  She was a little groggy from the pain medicine and her face was puffy from the fluids in the IV.

She watched her favorite show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on my laptop.

She was only allowed to have one parent stay the night, so Scott stayed with my sister.  When he arrived the next morning, she was very happy to see him.

The machines made interesting beeping noises, especially when she removed some of the monitoring lines that were attached to her.

Playing drop the toys out of the crib with daddy.  This game lasted over an hour.  She loved it.  By lunch time she was her active, perky, talking self.  She kept wanting to run down the hall.  The doctors released her a day early because she was doing so well.  What a miracle! We are grateful to God for blessing her so much.  We are also grateful for everyone's thought's and prayers.

Surgery Went Great!

She did so good during the not eating period.  Then during the surgery she was fine.  She is doing great, and has just gone to sleep for the night.

Some cute things Celeste has done lately are:
She points to her nose when you tell her to.  She also points to her nose when you tell her to point to her eyes.
She put her pink bunny in the waste basket and carried it through the kitchen.
She can fold her arms when we say a prayer.
When we say, "5 little monkeys...", she jumps up and down.
When we say, "If you're happy and you know it." she claps her hands.
She can blow kisses and give high fives.
Her all-time favorite foods right now are cheese and strawberry yogurt puffs, peaches and apples, followed by cheerios and rice cereal.  Her favorite drink is water.
She has 4 beautiful molers.
She weighs 21 lbs 4 oz and is 29" tall.  Her pediatritian says she's exactly average for height & weight.
She loves books.  Her all time favorite is one that is full of photos of kids making all kinds of happy/sad/silly faces.
Today in stake conference we were sitting at the back of the gym.  There were a lot of people there considering it was 12 degrees outside.  Celeste was playing quietly near me on the floor.  Scott was singing in the choir.  During the first hour she stayed pretty close to me with a few visits to the people in the row in front of and behind me.  Then suddenly she ran all the way to the front of the church and would have gone up into the choir seats, but I caught her just before she did.  She is fearless.  Maybe she was looking for daddy.  Today she got a priesthood blessing for her surgery this week.  Thank you everyone that has fasted and prayed for her.
